Great bike for getting back into cycling or retired racers the 34/50 limits power and speed on the downhill's but the cassette has all the necessary gears for the weaker climbers though. Disc brakes very powerful but we need the TDF to sanction use to make them more popular.
Could not believe how comfortable the ride is, soaks up the bumps on rough roads
What a great bike. Excellent frame, relaxed geometry, discs are very positive and not grabby. Sawpping out the alloy bar and seat post, possibly upgrading to 105 shifters
Picked up the Madone 4.0 disc today and put just 10 miles on it. I have a knee recovering from ACL surgery and am taking it easy. Originally I was looking at a Domane 2.0, but decided to go for the 4.0. I feel that the 4.0 disc offers a very good value for the extra $600 - full carbon frame, disc brakes, pass through axles. While I was out, the front wheel slipped on a curb, and I accidently ran straight over the curb onto the grass. Thought I would bend a rim or crack the frame. The bike rode the curb smoothly and in a controlled manner while I securely gripped the handlebars. I landed on grass and the bike and I were fine. ISO Speed, plus pass through axles I am sure helped save the day. Also ran over a couple of unexpected 4 inch wide grooves in the road and the ISO Speed system protected my rear end and the bike. This is one good looking bike that attracts attention among Trekers because its so new. It rides like a dream and just makes you want to keep going like the Energizer bunny.
