Assistant Store Manager

Job Description

You are attentive to details, goal oriented, capable of multi-tasking, and are dedicated to completing assignments and projects.

Your primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • You will complete any required training programs which involves in-store training as well as at-home internet-based training.
  • You will interact with customers and provide exemplary customer service; educate customers about bicycles, bicycle accessories and clothing, and any other cycling-related products offered by Metro Bicycle Stores.
  • You will learn to and perform bicycle fittings for all makes and models.
  • You will assist in the daily operations of the store, including restocking, cleaning, organizing and merchandising.
  • You will be open to learning from your coworkers and sharing that knowledge regarding new products and events with customers and new coworkers.
  • You will perform other tasks assigned by your store manager.
  • You will learn to manage and lead your staff to create a customer base through communication, fairness and integrity and by providing great customer service.   
  • You will learn responsibility; for the sales energy and productivity of the store.
  • You will learn, understand and adhere to Company policy, programs and standards included but not limited to Metro Bicycle Stores' Blue Book, and Hand Book.
  • You will work with your store’s manager and General Manager in additional areas of responsibility, which may include: Hiring and/or training of new sales staff.               
  • Manage inventory processes, including receiving, ordering, and physical inventory preparation.
  • Organize and merchandise product cleanly and creatively.
  • Maintain accurate financial and sales reports.
  • You will help your manager to educate staff regarding Company policy, programs and standards included but not limited to Metro Bicycle Stores' Blue Book, and Hand Book.
  • You will help your manager to schedule and monitor productivity and performance of your staff
  • You will demonstrate a commitment to your customers, your staff, your peers, your supervisors and to the Company, Metro Bicycle Stores.

The Assistant Store Manager position is a full time position; you will work a minimum of 40 hours or more depending on the season, and you must have the ability to work evenings and weekends and to be on call to work when staffing necessitates.

You are an ideal candidate to assist in managing a Metro Bicycle Store, if:

  • You have at least 2 years of bicycle store (or similar) experience.
  • You are detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • You are passionate about cycling as well as promoting the benefits of a cycling lifestyle and culture. 
  • You do not necessarily need to have prior sales or bicycle retail experience, but you must be willing to learn about bicycles, cycling accessories, and cycling culture.
  • You can communicate effectively, verbally, and by reading and writing.
  •  You are comfortable working as part of a sales team where sales performance is constantly measured.
  • You embrace the concept of serving the cycling public, our customer, your customer, and providing an exceptional retail experience.
  • You are capable of and willing to lift and carry at least 40lbs on a regular basis.
  • You are proficient in computer usage, including Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook, and are familiar with computer component hardware installation. 
  • You are motivated, able to work both independently and as a member of a team, and, are immersed in New York City life.
